16th ISTE ANNUAL ENGINEERING STUDENTS CONVENTION SCHEDULED ON 03.03.2017 IS POSTPONED TO 04.03.2017



The 16th ISTE Annual Student Convention is a forum for exchanging scientific and technical innovative concepts and emphasizing the role of students in converting intelligence with excellence. The convention provides an ambient platform for both academicians and industrialists for a collaborative work and to discuss technical advancements and to promote innovations and invention for conducive lifestyle in the postmodern era. The convention comprises of several technical events to encourage their expertise in knowledge and creativity matching with global needs.

Theme

  The theme of the convention is “Promoting Innovative Practical Ability and Employability Skills in Engineering Education ”.

Events in the Programme(with rules)

Paper Presentation

  • Maximum of three authors per paper.
  • Abstract (in a word document) not be more than 300 words should be sent to iste@psnacet.edu.in & a.sabarirajan@psnacet.edu.in before the last date.
  • Based on the peer review of the abstract, papers will be selected for presentation.
  • The full paper must be prepared in the IEEE format and submitted to the above mentioned E-mail id after the intimation of selection.
  • The oral presentation should be in the form of Microsoft power point.
  • The presentation time is 10 minutes that includes 3 minutes question and answer session.
  • PLAGIARISM, in any way, is strictly prohibited.
  • Last date of payment of registration fee 28.02.2017.
  • The organizers reserve the right to change/update the rules of the contest at any point of time and will do their best to inform the participants of the same. However, it is ultimately the responsibility of the teams to keep themselves updated.
  • Violation of any rule can result in rejection of paper.

Best out of Waste

  • Number of participants - 2 per team.
  • Number of teams from same college - maximum 3.
  • Participants must report to the venue 30 minutes prior to the commencement of the event.
  • Judgment parameters: Creativity, Originality, Presentation.
  • Only Waste material can be used for the purpose of this competition.
  • Other than waste material, Glue , Fevicol other adhesives, Pins & colors can be used to enhance & give finishing to Art work.
  • All the required material has to be brought by the participants themselves. No materials will be supplied by the institute for the same.
  • Judges reserve the right to disqualify any art work.
  • Participants are not allowed to bring any structure partly or fully made. All the art works are required to be prepared only during the allotted time.
  • In case of any dispute, decision of the organizers of the event will be final and conclusive.


Multimedia Presentation

  • Each team should contain maximum of 3 members, minimum of 2.
  • The duration of the presentation should be maximum of 7 minutes.
  • Content must adhere to the themes and subthemes of the convention such as renewable energy, waste management, low cost construction, cash less transactions and issues, IOT for rural development.
  • Each team can choose to solve any one of the problem statements.
  • Video format must compile with .mp4, .avi.
  • Judges decision will be final.

Robotics Show

  • Maximum number of members in a team is five.
  • Teams will have maximum of 15 minutes to explain and demonstrate their robotics project to the Audience
  • Only two entries will be allowed per college.
  • Idea, creativity, development effort, technology, innovation, intelligence, and presentation will be given more important.
  • Plagiarism is strictly prohibited.
  • The Judges decision will be final.




Project Exhibition

  • All engineering students are eligible for project presentation.
  • Number of participants – Maximum 3 per team.
  • Number of teams from same college - maximum 3.
  • Project should be in working condition.
  • Supporting materials required for the presentation should be brought by the team.
  • Decision of judging panel will be final.
  • Social relevance project will be given weightage.
  • Project should be demonstrated/presented with appropriate details for understanding by audience/judging panel within the allotted time of 10 minutes.
  • If power supply is required for the presentation, intimate earlier.




Analytic Ability

  • The online test will be conducted.
  • Only one Student per team can participate.
  • Maximum of Four students (teams) can participate from the same college.
  • The participants shall not be allowed to use mobile or any other electronic devices.
  • The question will be in the form of multiple choices.
  • The decision of the judge will be final and will not be subjected to any change.

Photography

  • It is an individual event and 3 participants per institution are allowed.
  • Participants should bring their own devices for the event.
  • All photograph submission must be in 5 megabyte or smaller, must be in JPEG or JPG format, must be in 1,600 pixels wide (if a horizontal image) or 1,600 pixels tall (if a vertical image).
  • The Photographs should not contain obscene, defamatory or other objectionable content.
  • No logos and watermarks to be present on the photo.
  • Click pictures with date and time mentioned.
  • Each team can choose any one of the following themes: Back to School, Education, Technology, Celebration, Go Green, Expressions, Diversity, Keeping A Sense of Humor.
  • All photos should be taken in the college premises.
  • A participant can submit minimum 1 and maximum 3 photographs. Photographed images have to be submitted in CD / DVD. The image should be submitted to the venue on or before 12:30 PM on 03rd Mar, 2017.
  • Composition, Originality, Creativity, relevance of the theme will be awarded extra points.
  • The digital image file(s) submitted will not be returned or acknowledged. The filename for each image should be clearly labeled with the participants name and where the image was taken.
  • The participant should be ready with the original image when asked upon by the organisers.
  • The photo should not have been previously entered in any competition/exhibition.
  • PLAGIARISM, in any way, is strictly prohibited.
























Technical Quiz

  • General Rules
    • Number of participants per team is only two.
    • The decision of the quiz-master will be final and will not be subjected to any change.
    • The participants shall not be allowed to use mobile or other electronic instruments.
    • The questions shall be in the form of multiple choice, True / False statement, Specific-answer question etc.
    • Audience shall not give any hints or clues to the competitors.
    • Replacement of any participant  of a team is not allowed.
  • ELIMINATION ROUND – (In case more than 6 teams register) on 03.03.2017
    • Each team would be given a set of question paper containing 25 multiple choice objective type questions
    • Time limit - 15 minutes
    • Only 6 Teams would be selected for STAGE ROUNDS
    • In case of tie between 2 or more teams, further 5 questions would be asked for final selection
    • The selected teams shall have to appear for the final round
  • FINAL QUIZ - STAGE ROUNDS
    • Round 1 : A question will be asked to a team and if they are unable to answer it will be passed to the next team - Rounds 4- 24 questions
      • Each team would be asked 4 questions each. ( Objective questions with options)
      • 10 marks for correct answer and 5 negative marks for wrong answer.
      • If a team cannot answer the question, they can pass the question &  then the question would be forwarded to the next team.
      • Answering time is only 30 seconds.
      • Team discussion is allowed.
    • Round 2: Rapid Fire Round : -Each team will be asked 10 questions one after another in one minutes time-  : 60 questions
      • 10 marks for the correct answer and negative 5 marks for the wrong answer.
      • Answering time is only 3 seconds
      • Team discussion is allowed
      • If a team cannot answer the question, they can say pass for the next question. The question will not  be forwarded to the next team.
    • Round 3: Audio-visual round: Teams  will be shown clips and will have to answer. rounds 2 : 12 questions
      • 10 marks for the correct answer and negative 5 marks for the wrong answer
      • Each Team would be asked 2 audio-visual questions. ( 1 slide in each round )
      • Answering time is only 30 seconds.
      • No passing to the next  team. Audience can answer.
