VISVESVARAYA FELLOWSHIP SCHEME FOR PhD


Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India initiated “Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme for Electronics and IT” in 2014 for a period of nine years with a total estimated cost of Rs. 466 crores (Rupees Four Hundred Sixty Six Crores Only) with an objective to enhance the number of PhDs in Electronics System Design & Manufacturing (ESDM) and IT/IT Enabled Services (IT/ITES) sectors in the country.

  • In Phase I To Support 1500 PhD Candidates including both Full-Time (500) and Part-Time (1000) in each of ESDM and IT/ITES sectors (Total: 3000 PhDs) were offered, primarily to IISc, IITs, and few premier Universties and Colleges. In Phase II, which is currently launched,  aims to support 1000 Full Time PhD candidates,150 Part Time PhD candidates, 50 Young Research Fellowships and 225 Post – Doctoral Fellowships.

Objectives

  • To enhance the number of PhDs in Electronics System Design & Manufacturing (ESDM) and IT/IT Enabled Services (IT/ITES) sectors in the country.
  • To give thrust to R&D, create an innovative ecosystem and enhance India’s competitiveness in these knowledge intensive sectors.
  • To fulfil the commitments made in National Policy on Electronics (NPE 2012) and National Policy on Information Technology (NPIT 2012) which recommend to give special thrust on significantly increasing the number of PhDs in the country to enable India to compete globally in the coming decades, to develop an ecosystem of research, development and IP creation in these knowledge intensive sectors.

Visvesvaraya Fellowship for PhD @PSNACET


PSNACET has been sanctioned for Two Full Time PhD positions under the Visvesvaraya Ph.D scheme for the Academic Year 2022– ‘23 by the Digital India Corporation, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology Meity), Government of India under the Visvesvaraya Ph.D scheme for the Academic Year 2022– 23.

The following departments of our Institution are eligible to undertake scholars to carry PhDs in the scope of research domains of Electronics System Design & Manufacturing (ESDM) and IT/IT Enabled Services (IT/ITES) sectors in the country.

The scheme is for Ph.D candidates willing to do research under the research domains / topics, which come under the following broad research categories of Electronic Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) and Information Technology Enabled Services (ITES) and are as follows:.
