About Blood Donation :

In 1665  Dr. Richard Lower of England performed the first recorded successful blood transfusion from one dog to another. In 1940 Dr. Karl Landsteiner and Dr. Alexander Weiner discovered Rhesus factor in blood. In 1942 First blood bank of India was established at Calcutta to meet the blood need of the war."The shelf-life of donated blood is 35 to 42 days. There is a constant need to replenish stocks in our blood banks. Rotary Blood Bank, told us.“Healthy donors are between the age of 18 to 65 years. So they should come out and donate blood," added Verma.
Statistics show that,  there are 234 million major operations in India, 63 million trauma-induced surgeries, 31 million cancer-related procedures and 10 million pregnancy related complications which require blood transfusions.

Blood Donor Symbol :

The symbol of the BLOOD DONOR is based on the “RATH” wheel of the Sun Temple situated in Konark, Odissa. It represents the cycles of creation, preservation and release, and signifies the movement in life across time and space.

Blood Donor Motto :

The motto of BLOOD DONOR is “If you’re a blood donor, you’re a hero to someone, somewhere, who received your gracious gift of life.”. It underlines that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of the society on the whole.

PSNACET – Blood Donors ’ Club :

The college has a Blood Donors’ Club with more than 250 volunteers. Blood donation camps are organized regularly and especially on the eve of the Founder’s Birth anniversary. The volunteers of this club are sent to hospitals to donate blood during emergencies.

Every year, the blood donors club of our college organized a blood donation camp to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of the Founder of the college Kalvi Thanthai  Late  Thiru. R.S.Kothandaraman in the college premises. On this occasion,  a group of more than 250 students and staff donated their blood.

Our college Blood donors’ club has consistently participated in donating blood to the community in case of emergency and whenever the need arises. To appreciate this service, Regional Blood Transfusion and Research  centre at Meenakshi Mission Hospital , Madurai praised our institution and presented a memento to our college.
